Second Language Studies prepares you with an understanding of how language works and how people become proficient in more than one language. The skills you gain enhance your preparation for jobs abroad, in international relations, global business, language professions, and language learning. Students with this minor have gone on to teach English as a second language to adults in non-school settings, and to tutor language learners. They work with NGOs offering services to refugees, and in a wide variety of careers involving cross-cultural exchange.
This minor pairs well with many majors and other minors, allowing you to create a hybrid path that includes deeper awareness of other cultures and forms of language acquisition. You also gain proficiency in your own language study.
