The journal Language Learning has awarded DSLS's Brian Rocca a research grant to help fund his Doctoral dissertation. The dissertation, entitled The effects of lexical characteristics, vowel categorization, and vocabulary size on language learners' phonolexical representations, sits at the intersection of mental lexicon, L2 phonology, and network science. It investigates how precisely English language learners remember the sounds of words depending on individual learner differences as well as phonetic differences in words.
